The Lockout
Christmas day was fabulous up until the very end. At approximately 11:59 on Christmas Night we were packing up the car to go back to Great Grandma G’s house for a good nights sleep. I warmed up the car so it wouldn’t be cold for Mommy and Baby. I finished loading and went inside to round up the passengers for the ride home. Upon returning to the now warm, and idling car we found all the doors were closed and locked up tight. I jiggled all the handles to no avail. Not one door was open. “Well, merry $#!@ing Christmas $#!@ing car,” I muttered as I kicked the tires as hard as I dared. Everything was in the car; diapers, formula, playtoys, jackets, everything. The passengers went back inside and the following few moments were filled with our measly attempts to ‘jimmy’ the windows of the car. See the picture below for that futile activity. In the end we had to call AAA to come open the car. At this point, as if on cue, Kyle started crying because he was hungry. When are they going to show up! To their credit, 20 minutes later at 12:30, they showed up, and the car was open by 12:32. I knew that AAA membership would pay off someday. We grabbed the baby chow out of the car, and I apologized profusely to Kyle as he sucked hungrily on his bottle. All was well again.
